Athens Shore Excursion: City Highlights Bike Tour

Meet your guide at Piraeus Port in Athens, and travel to the city’s UNESCO-listed acropolis where your bike tour starts. Listen to a comprehensive safety briefing, put on your helmet, and then set off on your way by bike. Following your guide, leave the busy city center behind, and ride along the streets around the Acropolis of Athens, admiring the city’s many historical monuments.

Make the most of several photo stops and breaks to listen to your guide’s commentary about the sights. Pose for pictures in front of the incredible Areopagus (Rock of Ares) on Mars Hill and marvel at the city panoramas spread out before you. Pedal to Kerameikos Cemetery — an ancient site littered with hundreds of ornate statues and monuments — and continue onward to Plaka, the city’s vibrant Old Town. Neo-Classical architecture, Byzantine churches and bustling independent shops line your route.

Stop by Plaka’s food market, and head inside one of its centuries-old pastry shops to enjoy a selection of traditional Greek deserts and snacks, typically made sugary-sweet with honey, nuts and fruit (own expense). Continue to Syntagma Square in the heart of downtown Athens, and then enter the National Gardens of Athens to see the Presidential Guards in their distinctive red berets. Pass Panathenaic Stadium, where the first modern Olympic Games was held, and then ride back toward the acropolis, stopping briefly for photos at the Arch of Hadrian. Your experience then finishes with a drop-off at Piraeus Port.
