Tours from Bordeaux

We highly recommend this wine tour in the St. Emilion region. Our host- Clement was very knowledgeable about both wine and the Bordeaux area. He also had recommendations for lunch in St. Emilion, and dinner in Bordeaux after the tour. Meeting at the Tourism Office in Bordeaux was easy and on time. Our group had four couples and we visited two Chateaus before lunch, and one more after lunch in the city of St. Emilion. We also got a bonus tasting at a local wine shop! If you can take the time, I highly recommend the full day tour so that you have some time to explore St. Emilion and visit more wineries.
Comparing 2 tours from the same company, St Emilion and Medoc, the St Emilion tour could have been better. First our guide, Hugo, while nice and informative, talked too much. Some guides feel they need to fill up road time with talk. That was him particularly on the way out. Second, our 3rd tasting of the day was with a relatively new producer. I'm all for giving new vintners a chance, but their wine was simply not that good, particularly in an excellent region with many great choices. Third, at every winery we heard the same story of wine making. Overkill after hearing the story twice. Fourth, we were led to believe there would be a 45 min tour of St Emilion. That wasn't the case. We were led to the center of town, given a map and told to be to the van in 2 hours. The 1st two vintners were decent with one going above and beyond by offering cheese pairings. However the quality could have been better. Maybe it was just our guide and the winery choices made for the day, but it could gave been so much better...
This was a great value for the money. Clement met us in the city center and after a brief overview of Bordeaux and the surrounding wine country, we headed to the right bank in a small van, which was clean, spacious, and air conditioned. During the ride he provided us a lot of history of the region, the appellations, and the wine. I was kind of amazed at his knowledge, to be honest. We went to two vineyards in the first half of the day, and each one consisted of a tour and a tasting of a couple of different wines. For lunch we went into St. Emilion proper, where we could purchase wine (and even ship it to the states), have lunch, and explore the city on our own. He gave us a recommendation for a great sandwich shop and some local attractions and my fiance and I had a great time. We went to one more vineyard in the afternoon, and on the way back to Bordeaux he gave us some great recommendations for dinner, wine, and canele. I like that throughout the day he gave us enough time in each place to stop and take pictures or ask questions and we never felt rushed. You can tell he's really passionate about Bordeaux in the way he talks about the food, the wine, and the things to do in the city. He also brought water for everyone, which maybe is a small thing but very appreciated because it was a hot day. We were with 3 other couples, all very nice as well, and the time really flew by. I would recommend this one for sure!
All was good, excellent tour guide (Julie speaks good English and is very nice), comfy transport means, well paced and good selection of houses to visit... I enjoyed it and do recommend this tour to others.
My wife and I had an excellent time on this tour from Bordeaux into the right bank wine region. Our tour guide Morgan was extremely friendly and knowledge about the area without being overwhelming with information. We visited 3 wineries which all were very different and gave us a great expression of the region. The free time for lunch in the village of Saint-Emilion was very enjoyable. I would highly recommend booking this tour!
Our tour guide, Hugo, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the region and wine. The three wineries we visited were ok. The last winery we visited was crowded because 3 different tours converged on this winery at the end of the day and the winery’s guide was very rude and disrespectful. He needs to find another professional that does not involve dealing with the public. I probably would have rated this tour higher if not for this guy.
Helene was an extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and engaging tour guide. The tour provides plenty of time at each chateau and in Saint Emilion. Learned a lot and loved the small group setting!
Oh, what a lovely day. Lea was so fun and seems to know everything! The chateaux we visited were warm and gracious and the little place of Saint Emilion was charming. Oh and the wine everywhere was superb!
Our guide, Karim, was great! He made the tour fun and eventful. Loved all the wines and wineries. So glad we took the full day trip.
A great trip to get to understand different terms in French wine and taste the different levels of wine! J our guide was knowledgable and articulate. The bus was a bit small for the big people we have become. Great views and wine tasting memories.
We are not novices at wine excursions. We did a wine tour in the champagne region in 2009, Maddox wine tour in 2010 and one to the Napa Valley in recent years. Karin, our guide was easy to understand and assisted with giving thorough explanations about the wine making processes. He was attentive to the clients needs and after getting a feel for what we wanted to do for lunch, made reservations for us at a fantastic place. Would recommend this tour.
we very much enjoyed this tour...was an
This tour was fantastic. Beautiful sites, great chateaus and our tour guide, Simon, was simply awesome. Great balance between sightseeing, learning the wine making process, and getting to enjoy the process of wine tasting. Simon was very knowledgeable, friendly, and made the tour extremely enjoyable. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
Our fantastic guide Karim made this tour an unforgotable one! He was great, a lot of fun and very knowledgeable about the wine region and different types of wine, We visited 3 wonderful family owned wineries in saint Emilion and Pomerol. The medieval town of saint Emilion is lovely, very charming place, we enjoyed lunch there. If i could rate this tour 10/10 , i would, it was fantastic, thanks again to our guide Karim, his sense of humor was extremely entertaining and warm. He made everyone in the car feel included! Highly recomend him for the tour..
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the wine making in the region. I learned a lot!! The 3 vineyards we went to were very different, which was great and meant there wasn't too much repetition between them. The medieval town of St Emillion is lovely. the only challenge the day I was there was that there were some cruise ship tour groups there. And also many of the less touristy restaurants were closing about the time our second wine tasting was ending so it was a bit difficult to find a restaurant for lunch. I would recommend this tour for anyone who wants to learn about the wines of this region mainly merlot grapes, I learned
