Il tour a piedi di 2 ore parte dall'ufficio turistico nel centro di Bordeaux. Il percorso esatto può variare a seconda del tempo e del numero di partecipanti al gruppo, ma la guida mostrerà sicuramente quante più attrazioni possibili della città.

Si cammina poi fino al monumento ai girondini, una drammatica fontana-statua che commemora i girondini, un gruppo di martiri politici giustiziati per il loro sostegno militante durante la Rivoluzione francese.

Si prosegue lungo le sponde del Fiume Garonna fino a Place de la Bourse, sede della borsa valori. Questa piazza è stata progettata nel 1700 da Gabriel, l'architetto di Re Luigi XV. Qui è possibile visitare la Fontana delle tre grazie.

Raggiungi Rue Sainte-Catherine, la strada pedonale nel cuore del centro storico della città, fiancheggiata da numerosi negozi e ristoranti. Rue Sainte-Catherine, spesso considerata una delle strade pedonali più lunghe d'Europa, collega Place de la Victoire a Place de la Comédie.

Dopo si arriva alla Place de la Comédie, un centro trafficato su cui sorgeva un tempio romano. Qui si trova uno dei teatri più prestigiosi della Francia, il Grand Théâtre, il simbolo culturale della città. Costruito tra il 1773 e il 1780 come testimonianza della prosperità della borghesia emergente di Bordeaux, è uno degli ultimi teatri del XVIII secolo rimanenti nel mondo.

We enjoyed our walking tour of the city sights of Bordeaux and Bruno was a very interesting, informative and amusing guide (also liked his tip about trying Lillet blanc with a twist of orange though we didn't get to our 4th glass so our credit cards are still safe !!!!!)

Disappointing! The guide was clearly not pleased to see how many were in the group and even less pleased that some of us only spoke English. He was, however, very well informed but he had to speak in French, then English, and he spoke so quickly it was hard to understand anything. There was no form of introduction he just said this way

This was an easy, pleasant 2 hour stroll around Bordeaux in the company of a very informative guide. A good way to get to know the history, sights, architecture of the city.

The success of tour like this is largely dependent on the guide and we were so lucky to have Michael Haddak who made us all feel very welcome and as well as being very knowledgeable - he also has a great energy which really adds to the tour.
