This fascinating half-day tour will begin at a local tea house in Chengdu People’s Park. Here, sip soothing tea, prepared the traditional way, and experience the way of life in this corner of the world. Learn about other activities traditionally carried out in the teahouse such as ear cleaning and tea doctors.

Once suitably refreshed, head to a local food market and shop as the locals do. Learn about the spices and ingredients that give Sichuan cooking its distinctive flavour and have chance to buy some unusual ingredients to take home.

Afterwards, visit the Narrow and Wide alleys (‘Kuanzhai Xiangzi’), a set of traditionally preserved ancient passageways that reflect the Ming and Qing eras. Enjoy local snacks such as Sandapao (a sort of sticky rice ball), Sichuan-style dumplings and Sticky Tofu whilst exploring these beautiful walkways.

The final stop in this half-day experience is at a local hot pot place. Enjoy the delicious local dish of Sichuan hot pot, famed for its spiciness, along with drinks and a selection of side dishes at an authentic restaurant.
