Sichuan Opera at Shufeng Yayun Teahouse in Chengdu

The Sichuan Opera is a colorful, musical and comedic show featuring half a dozen separate performances that are sure to impress the audience. It starts at 8:00 pm every day at the Shufeng Yayun Tea House, and last for around 90 minutes.

You should arrive to the venue 45 minutes before the show starts and show your voucher and ID in the ticket office. The address is: 23, Qintai Lu, Chengdu. You can go by your own or choose our pickup and drop-off service from your hotel so you won’t have to worry about anything except enjoying an unforgettable show.

The Shufeng Yayun Teahouse has a special architecture style proper of Old West Shu Country, the old name of Sichuan Province. This building was once a teahouse and assembly hall of famous Sichuan operatic actors. In recent years, it gathers the distinguished actors in Sichuan Province holding China’s Sichuan Opera unique skills performance for each evening.

The show holds a series of performances like Gong and drums music, Stick-puppet show, Chinese trumpet, Humorous dialogues, Hand shadows and Changing faces.

Facial make-up is a step of making-up for actors in traditional Chinese Opera. It’s normally painted in different designs on the face. Different people have specified types of facial make-up to express the different characters. For example: Red means loyalty, Black means frankness, and White means duplicity. In order to enjoy this activity, you need to arrive 30 minutes prior to the show and once you access the theatre, the staff will offer it to you. You have to pay on your own.
