I have taken this tour in good weather several times, and loved it. However, in the event of rain, sitting in the saloon is a less satisfactory experience. When the sky threatened rain, the captain announced that in the event of rain, we would enjoy the same tour quality indoors. When we disembarked and mentioned the difficulty hearing the docent, one of the crew members said that it was because of engine noise, that while they were sorry, nothing could be done. The docent was OK, but made a few mistakes. For example, he said that Beaux Art mean " new" art (Nouveau). Another thing: one of our party used a walker and could not climb stairs up to Michigan Ave. Arriving was no problem. Our first try to use the website's map led us to the construction zone for a new building going up on one of the routes. Fortunately, the Lyft driver knew the location of the Auto Pound and delivered us dockside in time for the cruise. However, the several Lyft drivers trying to pick us up, was lost for about a half hour. And while we were the only people unable to use the stairs to Upper Michigan after our cruise, we can't be the only people ever to need a pickup on the river level of Wacker. The website's advice was useless to the several drivers who tried to find us. And we had to stand in that dirty, ugly, creepy place until one intrepid driver located us. Perhaps you could design a small waiting area and keep the website's map up to date.
The lady who narrated our architectural tour was so knowledgeable! She made it very interesting. It was on time and ran the 90 minutes. The staff was excellent at boarding and exiting the tourists.
We heard this was the best archeological boat tour of the several to choose from and we agree with that assessment. The docent was outstanding. Well worth the time and money to do. Would highly recommend it.
Very professional and educational. Tour guide was very knowledgeable. Chicago is a wonderful city. From the river is definitely the best view.
