This trip had everything we were looking for. Rock paintings, Birds and the whole Kakadu experience. The explanations about the Rock paintings were full and interesting. Thee climb up was a bit steep and the stairs seemed never ending but it was well worth it. The Yellow Water cruise was great and although there was not a great number of species the sightings of what was there were great. Easy to see in open areas. A big buzz was an osprey at arms distance and Jabiru out in the open. Plumes Whistling ducks were in huge numbers. There were god croc sightings too and the boat went in close and from both sides. Lunch was adequate but we had to wait a while for bread rolls to come. The afternoon drive to the Crocodile Hotel was interesting but it was quite a let down from the morning. Worth the trip though.
Tour started off bad as company overbooked, spent a couple hours figuring out who to remove due to bus capacity exceeded, and all figured out while bus was full/ready-to-go. We essentially went 7 hours without seeing anything listed in the tour (6am to 1pm). Our tour guide was boring and disinterested; he even yelled at a few tourists during the day for no real good reason. The crocodile tour in the afternoon was awesome, which our guide dropped us off with another company to do. Due to company's disorganisation and overbooking in the morning delaying us a couple hours, we did not arrive back into Darwin until 9:30pm - too late to go to the Sunset Markets, etc as we had planned when we booked the trip (told we would be back between 6 and 7). Dinner was skipped by tour in lieu of a convenient store that had only snacks (nothing hot - just chips, candy, etc). Lunch was just cold meats and salad. Viator price doesn't include $40/person national park entrance fees, which was confusing given we were never saw a Park Ranger or Entrance. Why doesn't Tour Company include "National Park Fee" in our Viator tour that already costs quite a bit? Price definitely wasn't worth it and the day felt miserable. Unfortunately not recommendable.
Very interesting and rewarding experience. Friendly driver and guides and an experience not to forget.
Michael is a great guide. He explained the site and stories of Darwin in details. The whole itinerary was running smoothly. Perhaps my visit was during wet season (no rain though), we had a comparatively small group which was perfect.
A long journey but we'll worth it. Our driver was very knowledgeable and filled some of the journey with information.
Price does not include entance to the park and then you get stung with international transaction fees
Disappointed. Spent whole day in a bus and saw nothing. The only good thing was the Yellow Water tour. The rest was wasting time and driving around. Finally, we’ve spent 20 min at Nourlangie, didn’t even get the chance to walk to the lookout. In short, won’t see much of Kakadu.
Great trip.
Warren was very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and funny. The entire trip interesting and the scenery was beautiful. The lunch was outstanding, one of the best. Would definately recommend this tour!
