Our Hostess Anna made our experience positive with her personable manner and straightforward explanations. We enjoyed learning about Polish traditions and actually visiting a market and store through this hands-on approach. Making the pierogis from scratch ourselves was great instead of just watching. Lots of fun!
Our class was fun a d informative. We had the experience of visiting and cooking with a dynamic young woman in her home kitchen. Though many of my friends would have died if they had to cook in such tiny quarters, it really made it homey. She insisted we try out simple words when we went shopping at the large delightful local outdoor market as she had us ask for ingredients. The shop keepers were wonderful though we were intimitated. We had samples of different snacks we purchaxed, tnen made onion and potato perrogies. Talking to her about Poland and her way of life was so informative. Though a bit expensive for a simple cooking class the overall value we had was the experiences.
This was the very best and memorable way to learn how to make perogies in a Polish home ... Olga was the best hostess and teacher!
This cooking class was such a delight! We had the pleasure of meeting with Anna, who took us to a great outdoor market and let us order the ingredients as she taught us how to say them in Polish. Than we had a lovely stroll to her home. She provided us with some cheese a appetizer as she got to know us a little better. Than she taught us step by step how to make homemade delicious pierogis! We had such a blast, and she was very friendly and made us feel comfortable. We really enjoyed being in her home and learning how to make such a staple in Poland. After we were all done we sat down and enjoyed them together. It was a really great day, and I would recommend this clads to anyone who is interested in learning a new skill, and enjoys cooking or just learning something new!
What a fun, unforgettable experience! We were first met by Thomas, who's enthusiasm is contagious, and we were given maps that included basic Polish vocabulary. We were told that we were going to visit one of the oldest market places in Poland the Stary Kleparz and that we were going to ask for our ingredients for the pierogies from the vendors at the market in Polish! We were a little nervous at first but with some helpful tutoring from Thomas we all did very well and it was a lot of fun too. We learned more about Polish foods as we walked about the market and picked up a few more items before heading off to Thomas' mom's house. Yes, we really went to his mom's house and she was so very welcoming that you immediately felt like you were visiting old friends or family. We cleaned up and were put to work peeling and cutting potatoes and onions. While we waited for the ingredients to cook we sampled some Polish snacks purchased from the market as well as sampled Polish beers. Everything was delicious, our favorite was the smoked cheese. Yum! We discussed where items were made and the history of the foods and even talked about where we were all from our small group of six was from California all the way to Denmark. Next, it was pierogie dough making time. We each took turns, rolling out the dough, cutting the circles and filling the pierogies. The finished pierogies went into the boiling water and soon it was time for the big reward, eating! Our finished product was fantastic! This was a very fun, hands-on experience that we would do again. If you truly want to feel like you are part of Poland, you must step away from the tourist crowds for a bit and into the welcoming home of the locals. You will be so happy that you did!
Monica and Stefano were great hosts, experts about the area, and cooking teachers. The trip through the farmers market was fun.The cooking was fantastic. Will make the dishes for friends at home.We appreciate that they answered all our questions about Krakow and its history. We highly recommend the class.
Anna was terrific. She took us to the market and we shopped for the ingredients we neeed to make really fantastic pierogies. My wife and I enjoyed talking with her and learning about Krakow and Poland. A great four hours.
