Il tour inizia con il prelievo in hotel all'orario di partenza concordato. Partendo a bordo di una comoda auto privata guidata da un autista, viaggerai verso Auschwitz-Birkenau, fuori Oświęcim, senza fermate per recuperare altri passeggeri.
Dopo circa 1 ora e mezza, arriverai presso il centro visitatori. Qui, lasciando l'autista privato inizierai il tour di gruppo guidato del sito, patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO.
Oltrepassato il cancello del complesso sotto l'agghiacciante insegna "Arbeit Macht Frei" (il lavoro rende liberi), apprenderai subito che il campo fu fondato nel 1940 come campo di detenzione per i prigionieri polacchi prima di diventare un centro di sterminio europeo di ebrei e di altri gruppi definiti "antisociali".
Qui avrai l'opportunità di scoprire come questo cambiamento abbia visto Auschwitz espandersi fino al vicino quartiere di Birkenau, creando un campo che ha inghiottito le vite di oltre un milione di persone. Avrai la possibilità di visitare i principali edifici, alcuni intatti altri in decadenza, e di vedere ciò che resta a testimonianza del destino di molte persone che furono imprigionate qui.
Mentre la guida narra come veniva gestito e protetto il campo, potrai vedere i forni crematori, le camere a gas, le torrette di guardia e le baracche di Birkenau. Nel vortice dei racconti di cosa successe all'epoca, la guida saprà spiegare tutto ciò che c'è da sapere in modo rispettoso e attento.
È inoltre prevista una visita al memoriale dedicato alle vittime del campo, dove sarà possibile trascorrere alcuni minuti per rendere omaggio alla memoria di coloro che furono imprigionati qui non molto tempo fa.
Durante il tour, è prevista una breve pausa per il pranzo. Poiché ad Auschwitz-Birkenau non sono presenti bar né ristoranti, ti suggeriamo di portare con te il pranzo per la giornata.
Il tour guidato termina dopo pranzo incontrando nuovamente il tuo autista. La giornata termina con il rientro direttamente in hotel a Cracovia.

This was a truly moving and emotional experience. Our driver Michael, while not the tour guide, was very informative. A very smart guy who share his experiences, videos and asked us questions too. We chatted with him both ways from Krakow and back. We thank Michael for his insights and conversation and his love for Poland and teaching us about Poland. Thanks, Michael.

The tour is quite shattering, so be emotionally and physically prepared. Don't plan much that night and don't go alone. The tour guide was just fantastic. Deeply knowledgeable and you could tell that what she was telling us just scratched the surface of the story. Because of the tour, I bought several books at the bookstore and, less than 24-hours later, I have already finished one. Reading these histories is completely different when the narrator refers to a place or a building, and you have been there. There is a lot of walking, so wear good shoes. It was probably the most meaningful tour I have ever been on. We used the private transport, and our driver was also just excellent. He provided history as we drove, and yet also knew exactly when we needed to contemplate in quiet. He also suggested other tours which we booked immediately based on this experience.

Wasn't looking forward to this trip, but so glad I went. Its important that we see and hear what happened, so it doesn't happen again. We were meet on time from out hotel in a comfortable minivan. On route he showed us a film which set the mood of the visit and prepared us emotionally as to what to expect. This trip has lots of walking especially when you visit Birkenau, so be warned. Little time between Auschwitz and Birkenau visits so maybe bring food and drink with you. There are cafes in Auschwitz but depending on when you go could have queues.

I had hired a private driver to take a friend and myself on this tour. Dominic was professional, helpful and considerate. During our 90 minute drive to Auschwitz-Birkenau, we were shown a video in the car. It was extremely helpful in giving me more information about what I was to see upon arrival. Upon the end of the tour at Birkenau, Dominic was waiting for us.This is a tour everyone should take. The nations of the world need to work together so the horrors that happened at these camps never, never, happens again. There are no words to express the complete devastation, inhumanity that I witnessed while touring the remains of these sites. Photos will never do it justice.
