I rarely if ever rate so low but this one really was very disappointing. Started with a time discrepancy between Viator's listed start time and the company's listed start time so there was a scramble to contact local company which turned out not to be so easy and I did not get an email from the local tour company before the tour confirming information ie: start time and meet place. Finally got all that situated and was at the meeting place early and the tour bus was about 10 minutes late, no problem things happen. Yolonda, our tour guide welcomes me on the Chaplin Tour ?? and says the castle is not an included expense and had to pay to get in, she only relented when I showed her the original info when I signed up for the tour which did NOT have the castle as an excluded cost. So off we go the bus being crowded as the bus started in Geneva and picked me and one other person up in Lausanne, again no problem. First stop Chaplin tour, I was not interested in this and knew it was not included in my tour but here's the problem.. I and a few others sat and waited while others went to the museum and home tour and there was NOTHING within in walking distance to see so I sat and waited the whole time.. Youlanda said I could walk down to the town of Vevey but I could not walk all the way down there then hoof it back up and have time to see anything. Not sure why the bus couldn't drop us off and the new bus pick us up. We couldn't even wait on the bus as it took others off to a glacier tour. One person left the tour and took a taxi back to town saying this is NOT what I signed up for and another couple with a young child were very disappointed and when voiced their disappointment they were rudely rebuffed, but did remain on the tour as did I. Two hours later, new bus shows up and the next part of tour starts.. It's now 12:00 , I was picked up at 8:30 and so far it's been a road trip and sit and wait tour. At 12:30 the bus pulls over within the vinyards at a spot with 2 picnic tables and overflowing trash cans and we have a picnic lunch???? Home made sandwiches and packaged cheese strips which were hard and discolored at the ends not sure how old this was, wine which I can't drink and apple juice, a few cookies and other pre packaged items. This was not acceptable. The next part of the tour was a boat trip to the castle which was again NOT included in the tour price. The rest of us were dropped off in the town of Vevey and had 2 hours free time to explore the town, shop, etc and while a nice enough town at least I did get a good lunch since the picnic was not an option for me.. After 2 hours myself and 8 others were picked up by bus and off on 1 hour road trip to the castle. Once there met with others from the boat and we were given 1 hour to see the castle and was not near enough time.. Afterwards we were walked to a bus pick up on the side of the road and waited 20 minutes for bus to arrive, no place to sit and in the sun. Short drive, 30 minutes, to Montreux where we have 30 minutes to see the town again not enough time for a coffee much less see the town. Montreux was very she she, expensive but the flora and fauna were very pretty and the river walk a nice stroll. Back on the bus and dropped off in Lausanne. Turns out the tour was not as Viator had listed but had since been changed to the Chaplin Tour, and the places I was most interested in seeing were not on the tour. The vineyard tour was not a part and there was not a small tour train of the vinyards and as a UNESCO heritage site this was very very disappointing. The local tour company was too interested in shuttling people about to and fro to other tour places and time schedules to allow for a comfortable easy tour.. Viator was either deceived by the local company about what was involved or the local company changed the itinerary without contacting Viator or Viator presented this tour as something it was not.. Total disappointment and since it was pretty expensive total waste of money from my point of view. Our tour guide, Yolanda, seemed pretty stressed and obviously the differences between the Viator description and what her tour was supposed to be set her up for having to deal with customers that were upset, angry and disappointed. That said I've been on some really good tours through Viator and did 2 more after this one which were very good.
