As expected, the Dachau tour was sobering. Our tour guide Matt provided much needed context at just the right emotional level. It can’t be easy to do this on a frequent basis. That said, he did a good job. Here’s some helpful hints: be prepared to stand consistently for 4+ hours. As you check-in, you’ll be reminded that you won’t eat during the tour and to buy a lunch. Don’t do it. It will sit in your bag as there’s no time. Just eat breakfast before you go.
Well organized train/bus combo to get to site. Our guide was very knowledgeable and a wealth of information. At times it was too much narrative and not enough time to process the experience.
Our guide Martina , was excellent. She shared her knowledge very clearly and provided excellent opportunities for questions. The transportation was comfortable.
Our tour guide was beyond knowledge. It was such a large part in history and I was glad I got to see it. I would recommend this tour.
This was a great tour and very sobering. To see it in books or on TV is one thing but to visit the Camp is a whole other experience. Our guide, Paul, was very informative.
We were not able to make the tour due to an earlier fall at the airport. I had to wait for the responders to check me out and we missed the departure of the tour due to the delay. Jim Malue
It was a very speedy tour and guide had a lot to say since he knew a lot. While our guide was very knowledgeable, I wish he were a little slower.
Our Irish tour guide was passionate, and had extensive knowledge. I still feel truly moved from the experience and I don’t believe any of us will every forget it, and will pass our emotions along.
Informative but a bit long. Enjoyed it but I would say it should be 30 minutes shorter. I felt like we got a good overview of the site.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and there was plenty of time to see everything except the museum. The only tricky thing was finding the meeting point at Munich station. I'd advise you to try and find it the day before to save panicking on the day. At least one person missed our tour.
I have a fuller understanding of Dachau since going on the tour. It was moving and the guide, Keith was very passionate about what he was teaching about. I highly recommend this tour.
The store was just perfect. Matt was an excellent tour guide Who is very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject!
I was very pleased with the accuracy of the tour description, the purchasing and scheduling process, the communications about logistics, and the execution of the tour logistics themselves. Was was very disappointing was our tour guide. Although he did provide plenty of facts and insights about Dachau, he also though it was his place to speak his political views about unrelated modern/current day politics unrelated to Dachau and/or WWII.
Visiting the Dacau Concentration Camp was a profound experience. Our guide was excellent and provided insights we would have never learned on our own.
Sabri was our guide on this trip and he has made it unforgettable! He is an excellent guide with so much knowledge and even the children couldn't help but to listen to him the whole time! He really has an awesome way of presenting without trying to make a Hollywood movie from the facts. Thanks to Sabri and this trip we now have a much clearer view of the whole Nazi era.
I can't imagine doing this tour on our own now that we went with the tour. Sambi was great in getting us to the location and gave a much more detailed tour and history than I could have gotten on my own. Amazing, interesting and informative tour.
This was my second trip to Dachau as my son wanted ot learn more about the history. Our trip started with our group meeting Steve and him giving us direction on what ot expect and maybe a possibility of squeezing and extra 30 minutes if we would hustle from train to bus - which we did. Steve took extra steps to ensure we all made the connection and kept a very watchful eye on his group of 19. Upon arrival Steve started the tour and throughout the day was very knowledgeable and gave many extra details. These details are something I did not get on my first "self guided" tour and I would highly recommend his services. My suggestion is, while this is a very sobering place, the knowledge and insights provided where much better than listening ot the audio tour and walking around unguided. Thanks Steve
We were fortunate to have Nicola usher us from Munich to Dachau and back again. We could not have asked for a better tour guide. She is highly organized, experienced and knowledgeable about this very moving and disturbing subject. This is a tour that is not for the faint of heart. It is sobering. Nicola's approach is one of respect and solemnity. She did not sugarcoat anything we saw. She taught us that this site is a true memorial to the cruel end to so many innocent lives. She struck just the right chord in her comments and we will never forget what happened there, and in so many other places, during that dark period of history.
His knowledge and interest in the subject was really impressive. I learned a lot. He went into detail on every subject he answered all Questions. He even spoke to everyone on the train re questions or to clarify anything. Totally involved in the tour and his knowledge is amazing. Willing to answer any questions. I believe his name was Kai.
We felt very affected by this experience and learned many informative facts. Our guide was very well informed and presented the information in a moving and touching and non-judgemental fashion. Loved the quick train ride as well.
Steve was an Outstanding Tour Guide. He lives and breathes Dackau Concentration camp information and History. Steve gives Information from former inmates and those who were there. 15 min train ride from Munich, then 15 min Bus ride. to Dackau
The tour was very informative and moving. Radius Tours made taking the tour easy and we met at their booth in the Munich train station.
Kathleen was so knowledgeable ! I taught history for years and learned so much on this trip. She takes you through the entire history to help you understand how these events came to pass. Wish I could have taken her to dinner to learn even more. You are so valuable hope you stay another 20 years. Thank you
This was a tour that you must do. Keith was a walking encyclopedia on all subjects pertinent to Dachau. He also treated the subject with the respect that should be observed and was a fantastic guide throughout.
My girlfriend and I attended the tour that was done by Eric. He was an extremely well informed tour guide! I went on this tour several years ago with a different tour guide and I would definitely recommend this one over my first. He was well rounded, answered all of our questions, told us stories behind many of the sights/people, and even though it was was somber event in history he kept it light. **On our transportation back to the city they closed down all the city center stops (w/o notice) and he was able to navigate a group of +30 people back to each of our stops**
Eric always provided historical context as he guided us expertly through Dachau. In addition, he ensured we got back to our different addresses after the tour when the central train station tracks were closed down!
Kai was very informative and thought provoking. He made us think a lot about things that are happening today that seems like maybe history is repeating itself.
When looking into visiting Dachau, my husband and I decided to book a tour that took us from Munich to the concentration camp and back. This was the best and easiest way of doing it. It took away the worry about getting lost. Not only that, we had the best tour guide with us. Eric was amazing! Throughout the entire trip, he answered questions and explained everything to us. Eric was extremely knowledgeable and made this whole experience emotional yet eye opening. Totally recommend booking this tour to learn about this dark part of Germany's History!
This tour is an experience I will never forget. I truly appreciated having a tour guide to go through Dachau. Had I been by myself, I think it would have been too overwhelming. My tour guide, Kai, met our group at the train station and brought us to the site, was a wealth of information, and kept bringing new perspectives to how to interpret the history surrounding the camp. I highly recommend this tour!
Excellent review of history. I learned some surprising facts and was very moved. Jeff was wonderful. Will never forget!
Wife and I booked this trip during our short stay in Munich. Matt, our tour guide, did not disappoint! We left the central munich station for a short train then bus ride. The 5 hour tour, while humbling, was very informative. If you ever find yourself using this site, as for Matt from England.
Tour was great and our tour guide Grit definitely knew her stuff, a lot of history! Highly recommend this tour.
A bit too fast, no time to visit the museum, only a quick walk thru with the guide. bus was completely full, pack like sardines. should be a dedicated bus so the guide can do his preamble on the bus, and then we would have more time visiting the actual site.
This tour was incredibly informative and really not to be missed if one is in Munich. Our tour guide, Steve, was it World War II historian, and incredibly well informed as to the events that occurred leading up to and during the period of Dachau’s active existence as a prison then concentration camp. I cannot highly recommend this enough. Taking the tour during the winter definitely added a dismal and somber aspect to the day. A great place to reflect on history and remember the sacrifices of others. The museum itself is well laid out with many photos, articles and explanations to fill in the gaps of knowledge about this horrible period in history. Just make time and go. You will not regret it. Don’t miss the path behind the crematorium and the memorial room for Holocaust victims.
We enjoyed our trip immensely. Our guide was very knowledgable. Everything ran like clockwork. Would recommend.
Highly recommend. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, and gave us a great understanding of the history of WW2. I learned so much about how concentration camps really worked. I thought I knew a good bit about it, because I studied history in college, but wow, she taught me so much. We hit a bump in the road in the beginning of the tour. The train to Dachau was unavailable because of construction work, but she was able to get us to Dachau by bus instead. She was on top of everything! 10/10 would recommend.
